A Letter About Creativity, Healing & Expression

Everything Matters: Express your feelings through Creativity
When I first started exploring music, I had no idea it would become my way of expressing everything I couldn’t put into words.
Writing songs, crafting tones, and shaping ideas into melodies felt like discovering a new language, one that spoke directly from my soul.
But creativity isn’t just about the art form you choose; it’s about discovering what you feel is the best way to express yourself.
For me, it was through music. For you, it could be anything else: painting, photography, storytelling, or even cooking.
One important thing is to start where your curiosity takes you, without limiting yourself to one single art form.
Learn, experiment, and then… find that one or more things that truly resonate with you.
Every creative journey is different, but they all share one truth: Everything matters.
Your life experiences, your dedication, your story, your expression, your personality, your emotions.
Everything you already love reading, watching, learning, shapes how you see things; and at the end of the day, how you'll choose to pursue the journey of creation.
I’ve always been deeply fascinated by exploring and learning about other forms of arts, films, books, stories, music genres, etc.
So Why Creativity Matters?
It shapes how we connect with ourselves and the world around us.
For me, creativity is more than just a way to pass the time. It’s therapy for the soul.
Over the years, I’ve found healing in transforming my pain into music, letting the act of writing, playing, and producing help me process emotions that felt too big to hold inside.
Sometimes even just playing and improvising was enough to get myself out from negative emotions or thoughts.
But creativity doesn’t stop at healing.
It’s also a way to uncover who you are.
The more you create, the more you connect with your true self, with your unique way of thinking, feeling, and seeing the world.
Every note I play, every sound I shape, brings me closer to understanding what makes me, me.
What’s powerful is that this is different for everyone.
Your creativity, your ideas, and your perspective are as unique as you are.
That's why I love cooking so much! Seeing how the greatest chefs shape and use ingredients in their unique way.
It's fascinating how this process can be connected to music composition as well! :)
If you think your ingredients are music scales, sounds, chords, effects, etc., you can give the same ingredients to different composers, musicians, and they can make something unique and completely different from each other! I love that. :)
When you let yourself create, without judgment or expectations, you can discover parts of yourself you didn’t even know were there.
It's happened to me on many occasions, starting from a musical idea and then discovering the messages I wanted to represent with music.
Going deeper about the Why.
Why was it so important to me?
Why were those messages so important to share with others?
Slowly finding those answers, and that’s how writing music became my biggest passion, aspiration, and a continuously growing journey.
Uncovering my deepest reasons, that go way beyond fears.
So, if you've never experienced this yet…
Start Create
The first step to creating after you've started exploring some tools necessary in your field of choice is to really start immediately experimenting and "playing" with stuff, yeah, like a kid playing with his toys! :)
Don’t overthink whether it’s perfect or whether it measures up to some impossible standard right now.
Creativity isn’t about perfection; it’s about expression.
Enjoy that moment and get better at your craft over time, with passion and dedication, until what you like to do becomes second nature, but still a life journey.
It's so important to forget about the fear of judgment, especially the judgment that comes from yourself (I’ve always been very hard on myself, so I know, I know…)
Think about it.
When you let go of those fears, you’ll start to enjoy the process of creation and have fun much more.
It’s okay to aim to make beautiful art, but remember, don't let this stop you from starting and finishing things.
Another key is to "Stay Curious"
Creativity doesn’t have to stay confined to one field or tool.
Experiment in areas that intrigue you.
Whether it’s trying a new art form, learning a different technique, or simply exploring a new way of thinking, curiosity is what keeps your creative spark alive.
This was an important step when I started to learn sound design, crafting guitar tones, or studying new music scales and their emotional qualities, and so on…
I'll cover more in depth about it in other newsletters and videos! :)
For now… Stay Curious! :)
The Importance of Imagination
This is something about creativity that I find so fascinating.
Once you have an idea, you start to explore the tools that can help you bring it to life.
For me, this has been and continues to be a beautiful journey.
I love crafting tones and sounds to use in my songs, searching for details that spark my emotions and imagination, and discovering those elements that truly resonate with how I want to express myself, turning them into something meaningful.
A quick example here about a song I wrote a while ago, "Steel Eyes." I was imagining a fabric as the location for that part of the EP story. I loved the idea of bringing in sound FX that represent that, such as metals, chains, and soundscapes.
Another little curiosity about "imagination" and this song…
I remember so vividly the day when I woke up from my bed before falling asleep because I had a rhythm and melodic idea stuck in my mind, and I wrote it on a sheet of music paper. It was a pattern in 5/8.
This happened by accident, and it’s beautiful when it does.
"The more you experiment with tools and techniques, the more you’ll discover what connects with your creative voice."
I hope you find some inspiration in this letter, thanks for reading and as always if you like to connect and ask me something, send me an email.
If you like to study with me, I have some free spots right now for one-to-one lessons from music writing, production, guitar playing.
AND one-to-one guidance if you are struggling to get going, need support and clarity, I'll be happy to help! :)
